- Have a cup of tea / coffee without the extras: Enjoying a cuppa is one of life’s simple pleasures. Put the biscuits away and, if you are peckish, have a piece of fruit.
- Swap a meal a day for vegetables: If you are eating stodgy, winter warming meals three times a day, then you are probably eating high-carbohydrate meals laden with calories. Dedicate one meal a day to being just vegetables – this could be a stir-fry, hearty soup or even just a bowl of freshly steamed. These vegetable meals will fill you just as much without adding unwanted calories (and you will be getting a whole swag of important vitamins and minerals too).
- Exercise inside: If you can’t bear facing the cold air, move your workout indoors. Calorie-burning activities like martial arts, indoor rock walls, pilates and yoga are great workouts.
