Obie’s Sensational Weight Loss

If you are currently losing weight, you know how tough it can feel sometimes – having to watch every single thing that you eat and drink but knowing that at the end, it’s going to be worth it. It’s not just tough for humans, but for animals too.  If you have followed this blog for a while, you may remember a time when I wrote about a very obese daschund called Obie:  today I want to update you how he is going, 2 years after he started his weight loss journey.

Basically poor Obie was a dog surrendered to an animal shelter when his elderly owners could not care for him any longer – and lucky for Obie they did as they were literally over-feeding him so much, he was definitely suffering due all the excess weight he was carrying.  The average daschund should weigh around 7-10kg, but poor little Obie tipped the scales at 35kg!  (read more here: )

When Obie was adopted, he was put on a very strict diet and, 2 years later, Obie is a much happier and healthier dog.  In fact, he has had an amazing transformation and shed 25kg which is about 70% of his starting weight.  His weight loss regime has been quite strict – he has been on a special diet, had regular exercise and even surgery to get rid of the excess skin.  (Read more about Obie today here: ).

Obie's remarkable transformation
Obie’s remarkable transformation

You can compare Obie’s achievement to anyone who has successfully lost weight.  Let’s face it prior to losing weight, Obie’s size was stopping him from leading an active life.  However, now the excess weight is gone, Obie has rediscovered his youth and added years onto his life expectancy.   Finally, the take home message is that it doesn’t matter how long it takes, at the end of the day, every gram you lose is one step closer to a happier & healthier you.

If Obie’s story has inspired you to start your own weight loss journey, you need to call your closest clinic on 1300 SLIMMER (1300 754 663) and book your FREE appointment.  Despite Christmas being around the corner, now is a GREAT time to start so you can start the New Year feeling better (not bigger).
