The first fuel our body burns for energy, comes from the carbohydrates in the body. It will burn this, rather than the stored fat, maintaining what is known as the old metabolic pathway. However, carbohydrates are not stored in the body beyond forty eight hours and when no carbohydrates are consumed, the body must draw upon its major reserve of fuel (i.e. stored fat). Through this action, the body is then forced to take a different metabolic pathway. During this process, the body converts from being a carbohydrate burning machine, to a fat burning machine. This is a very effective way of shedding unwanted weight and inches.
